The Anointing

Jesus was visiting in Bethany one day,

At the home of Simon the Leper.

When a woman came in the home,

Carrying a jar of Alabaster.

While Jesus reclined at the table,

The woman broke the jar of expensive perfume.

And poured the perfume onto the head of Jesus,

It’s fragrance lingered throughout the room.

The woman was preparing Jesus for His burial,

She poured the remaining perfume.

Over the feet of Jesus, gently wiping them,

With her long hair and tears, amidst a crowded room.

Though the men made such a commotion,

For the woman wasting a lot of money.

Jesus commended her act of love,

Which she would be remembered through eternity.
