I have hidden your word in my heart; that I

might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

Hi Everyone!

The year was 1963; I was four years old. This is the earliest

year that I can remember pieces of my life. I was in the

basement of the church I went to, all through my child-

hood. I heard two Bible Stories that day. The first story

was about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the

Book of Daniel. The three young men refused to worship

a gold statue. King Nebuchnezzar threw them into the

furnace, but God protected them.

The second story was of Daniel, who refused to obey the

new law against prayer. Every day, morning, noon, and

evening, Daniel would go to his room to the window that

faced toward Jerusalem, and pray to the one true God.

Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, but God protected

him.

Two stories, four young men, a bad king, and a God who

is unstoppable! That day I gave my life to God, Jesus,

and the Holy Spirit, Three in One.

Now the year is 1994, I am married, we are both out of the

USAF, and my two sons are playing outside. I am on the

couch reading, a book on prayer. Within my soul I hear

My children spend a lot of time reading books on christian

living, and not enough time in My Word.” That was it.

I knew the Lord was talking about me. I put my collection

of books aside and I started focusing more on God’s

Holy Word. I also felt lead to treasure God’s Word. I

no longer piled other things on my Bibles. In other words,

I started treating God’s Word as a new found treasure.

Something to respect, to honor, to love and care for it

deeply. Not just for a short time, but for the rest of my life.

Every time I found myself putting the Bible down, I felt a

reminder in my head, not to put anything on top of it. So

I didn’t.

Once, I was reminded of a passage of scripture….

In Matthew Chapter 25 is the Parable of the Talents.

Skipping to the verse that talks about the servant who was

given two talents. ( I am paraphrasing) He traded them in,

and made two more talents.

When his master came back from traveling, the servant

said; “You gave me two talents, and I made you two more.”

The master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You

were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over

many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.”

The message for me was, this may seem like a little thing,

but remain faithful, and someday you will see the signif-

icance behind this that you have been asked to do.

I have already seen one blessing from this, my grown

daughter does the same thing in her own home. HOW

AWESOME IS THAT?

So three things I would like us to remember……..

Number One: The Holy Bible is the most important book

for a believer to read.

Number Two: Love, Treasure, and Respect God’s Holy Word.

Number Three: Whatever God gives us to do, remain Faith-

ful and True, in doing it.

Thank you Lord, for saving my soul. Thank you Lord, for

making me whole. Thank you Lord for giving to me,

Thy great salvation so rich and free. Amen. (An old

Sunday School Chorus).

Have a great month!
